Location – Greater Sydney Metropolitan, Central Coast and Hunter Regions, NSW
Period – 2013 / ongoing
Overview – Ausgrid maintains 445,293 power poles across their network with approximately 3,400 poles requiring to be replaced each year due to age, pole diameter, termite attack and or pole strength.
Ausgrid issues poles to Harnleigh for assessment, replacement, changeover, removal and reinstatement across the network area. Harnleigh is responsible for coordinating and completing all works including customer engagement and notification of works.
Scope
Pole replacement – Low voltage to 132kV (works included service location, excavation, pole standing, mains changeover, third party changeover, pole removal and reinstatement). Work may be completed live (low voltage only) or under network outage permits
Electrical network construction and maintenance (up to 132kV)
Pole hole excavation, pole standing and pole removal services only to assist Ausgrid Field Services Crews
Streetlight and service wire replacement programs
Specialised / difficult pole replacement (water access, difficult terrain and the like)
Emergency works – car hit pole, storm / bushfire events (make safe, repair or replace)
Customer engagement and notification of works
Outcomes
Primary contractor to Ausgrid since 2013
Installed, changed over and commissioned over 1,350 network poles (low voltage through to 132kV network construction)
Removed and reinstated over 2,740 network poles
Part of the first response teams for emergency works following severe storms, repairing and restoring the network
