Our social
responsibility
Harnleigh are committed to reducing our footprint on the planet and have a social responsibility to our workers, family, friends and the community to make a difference. We are proud of our contribution to date and working hard to continue to better ourselves every day.
Reducing carbon footprint
We are excited about the rapidly changing electrical and communications markets with the transition to renewable energy and storage, connected communities / cities, use of smart and new technologies.
Harnleigh believe we are best placed to enable this transition to move quickly as connecting electricity whether private grids, micro grids or to the actual grid is vital to enabling the roll out of new technologies.
We are experts in connecting new technologies to electricity networks using our solution focused innovative approach and are motivated by the role we will play in this transition.
Sustainable practices and commitment to reduce waste
We are continually revising our work practices to reduce our waste to landfill and looking for ways to be more sustainable in everything we do.
We separate spoil from excavation, reusing and recycling everything possible. We recycle removed timber power and communication poles and provide job packs for the crews to reduce waste.
We are always looking at our processes to see where we can introduce more sustainable practices. For example the investment in three vacuum excavation trucks for dewatering and tank cleaning. This allows Harnleigh to effectively separate waste and recycle water limiting potential site contamination.
Modern slavery
Our aim is to ensure that human rights are understood, respected and upheld across our supply chain. We have also considered broader rights of our employees relating to equality and fair pay.
Harnleigh is committed to stamping out Modern Slavery and has the appropriate due diligence processes to continually review our supply chain. This is supported by policies and processes that identify, assess and mitigate risks of slavery and human trafficking.
Indigenous employment
Harnleigh recognises the importance of indigenous training and employment programs which provides a significant economic and social benefit back to indigenous families and communities. As such, Harnleigh is always looking at ways to contribute and make positive difference.
Harnleigh is currently working with a Indigenous Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation organisation to trial a transition to work program for rehabilitated clients, providing work opportunities. We consider this a long term partnership to get the program right, so it can be rolled out through other organisations providing multiple avenues for work opportunities.
Employment programs
Harnleigh recognises our sector of work are suffering from dwindling skills (training of youth) and female representation in the construction industry. At Harnleigh, we are very conscious of our role and responsibility to provide opportunities for the betterment of the industry.
Harnleigh has seen over two decades success and growth through our people, we are committed to increasing the skills and entry points for youth representation to continue our sustained growth.
We also believe increased female representation in the industry is a positive step forward and we continue to review our recruitment processes to ensure we target increased female representation.
